University of Colorado Freshman Stefan Hughes placed ninth in the Giant Slalom at NCAA National Championships at Attitash, New Hampshire. He moved up from a starting place of eighteenth to finish eleventh after first run, and 8th second run, for a 9th place overall. Top ten finishers are NCAA All Americans.

Stefan grew up skiing Killington and Pico, attended Burke Mountain Academy and spent a post-graduate year at the Killington Mountain School as a member of the US Development Ski Team.

As a Freshman at the University of Colorado he has helped the Buffalos all season as one of their top finishers. Stefan was happy to be skiing back east. As quoted by the Colorado paper, “I felt good training here in the east,” Hughes said following his race. “I don’t know if it was my best skiing, but it was comfortable and I felt like I did well. It was nice to come back east and ski in this frigid weather. It felt good to be home.”
