"-When Erik, '94 applied to college, I recall one essay question asked Erik to describe a significant moment in his life and how that moment changed him. Erik wrote that his most significant moment was not a typical brief period of time, but rather the four years that he attended the Killington Mountain School. He went on to describe how KMS and his training and competition experiences helped him develop such things as independence, patience with self and others, the ability to set goals, the ability to refocus on new goals, time management, and the value of a strong work ethic. As parents, we have always been most appreciative for the opportunities that KMS provided for Erik, '94, and for our daughter, Amie, '97, to grow academically, athletically, and socially."

Evan DybvigWhat first pops into my mind on thoughts about KMS and why I chose to come here and what it did for me… KMS offered the best terrain and coaching, and it had the best history of top athletes.  It also allowed me to make this important commitment to skiing without leaving all of my friends and life at home.  There is no question that it set me on the right path for my success.

[From the Senior Statements, Spring 2000] For lending me the opportunity to say I am a ski racer; and for giving me the right to say I am an athlete, for four years done the right way and with no regrets, for helping me find adventure and avoid trouble, for the knowledge that KMS was challenging, fun and so worthwhile, for seeing what disappointment can do, and for finding out that success can do more, for teachers who give you a chance, and for teachers who give you a second chance, for races that made me cry, and coaches who made me laugh (and work) through them, for best friends, powder days, and my (very little) space in the cubby room, for being able to say tomorrow is another day, for giving me someone to consider myself - Thank you Killington Mountain School, teachers and friends, and thank you to my family, who I love, for making four years at KMS possible for me.
